HBO’s ‘Real Sports’ airing segment on late University of Michigan doctor’s sex abuse.
ANN ARBOR, MI – For a month and a half, Jon Vaughn has camped outside of University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel’s on-campus house.
The former All-Big Ten running back in the early 1990s said the late UM doctor Robert Anderson digitally penetrated him 50 times under the pretense of prostate examinations. Vaughn’s protest is not just about the sex abuse he and hundreds of other athletes and students suffered, but also Schlissel and the university’s handling of it.
Vaughn’s story and current fight against UM will feature in a segment of HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23. The segment will cover Anderson’s alleged abuse of “more than a thousand” people, according to an HBO release, and evaluate UM’s response.
